Celebrating Gratitude with a Valentine’s Day Rose Ceremony

Roses are red, violets are blue, we couldn’t choose one Valentine so we picked out a few. Some may write off Valentine’s Day as a Hallmark holiday, but in what’s become a new tradition, we celebrate it to express gratitude to our incredible Swirlies. If you’re a fan of The Bachelor, you’re probably familiar with the infamous rose ceremony that concludes each episode. However, you’re probably less familiar with the fact that our co-CEO, John Berg, is an extremely devoted Bachelor fan. Seriously, he’s watched all 20 seasons and can recall every Bachelor in order. Pretty impressive. So to help make his reality TV dreams a …reality… we made John the Bachelor for a morning and held our very own Swirl Rose Ceremony.
Swirlies submitted anonymous notes with the name of someone they appreciated at Swirl and why. It could be funny, sweet, specific, general, or just plain weird. Bachelor John randomly selected 14 messages of gratitude and delivered each one to the recipients along with a rose at our very own Rose Ceremony. In true Bachelor fashion, co-CEO Tom Sebastian stood in for Chris Harrison to announce the final rose.
Unlike the show, our rose ceremony ended without any broken hearts, just lots of full ones! Here’s a taste of the expressions of gratitude shared toward fellow Swirlies:
Who: Aaron Sterczewski
Why: For always being such a fun and smiley guy who brightens my day.
Who: Katie Hartman
Why: For being a badass Midwestern chick who appreciates good cheese curds and unpretentious beer.
Who: Daniel Hackett
Why: For being a totally awesome and patient teacher!
Who: Valerie Miyashiro
Why: Because it’s her birthday on V-day and she is the hardest worker I know. Day in and day out, she does whatever it takes to get every job done. She goes over and beyond to help the team with questions or training with no fuss, and is the definition of a team player.
